About Charlotte

I’m genuinely passionate about helping students feel confident in English. I know that exams and academic writing can feel overwhelming, so I focus on making complex ideas understandable and giving students practical tools they can use straight away. I take a calm, patient approach and adapt my teaching style to each student—whether they need structured exam preparation, support with reading confidence, or someone to guide them through essays step by step. I graduated from McGill University and have since worked in roles that rely heavily on strong communication, clear writing and analytical thinking. Tutoring allows me to share these skills with students at different stages of their academic journey, from school learners preparing for exams to international students adjusting to academic English. I care about progress, but I also care about mindset. I work hard to build a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and improving week by week. My goal is simple: to help students become confident, independent thinkers who know how to express themselves clearly.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is structured, clear, and results-focused. I believe that strong reading comprehension and writing skills are built through method, not memorisation. I work with each student to identify their current level, learning style, and goals, and then create a personalised study plan that builds confidence step by step. Teaching Methodology - I break complex language and analysis skills into simple, practical steps. - I use model answers and writing frameworks to teach clear essay structure. - Lessons include guided reading practice to develop critical thinking and interpretation. - I teach exam strategy—timing, planning, annotation and how to meet mark scheme criteria. - Regular feedback is central to my approach, and students receive marked work and progress notes. Lesson Format - Lessons are typically 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for exam preparation or intensive writing support. - Each lesson follows a clear structure: quick review → skill focus → practice → feedback → next steps. Qualifications and Experience - I am a university graduate (McGill University) with a strong academic background in research, analysis and academic writing. - I have professional experience in journalism/editing, academic communication and tutoring. - I specialise in English exam preparation and academic literacy skills used at school and university level.
