About Alice

I'm Alice and I'm 21 years old. I recently completed my BA in Global and Comparative Philosophy in the Netherlands at Leiden University, graduating with cum laude Honours. Before this, I went to school in the UK, obtaining all 7-9 grades in my GCSEs and 4 A*s in my A levels.
I am passionate about reading and I love to study texts. Throughout my philosophy degree, I have retained an interest in literature, with my Bachelor's dissertation combining a philosophical approach with literary analysis of fiction. Analysing and engaging in literature is something that I am passionate about and am excited to share with others.

About the lesson

If you are an A level English literature student or GCSE English literature/language student looking to elevate your grade from a C or D to an A or A*, then look no further! Here's what you can expect from me:

Before your first session with me, I will ask you to provide me with the following information:

- which exam board you are following
- which topics or texts you are covering in particular
- what you are struggling with the most/ what you are looking to get from my lessons

After this, you will have a trial lesson with me to see if we are a good fit. This will be free!
Should you decide to continue lessons with me, you can expect:

- lessons tailored to your exam board, learning how to 'tick the boxes' to optimise your grade
- refining your skills in analysing and engaging in texts
- training in essay writing and exam technique
- feedback on written responses

There is no definitive "model" for a lesson because all students have different strengths and weaknesses that I address accordingly. I have a wide variety of resources, such as contextual material, useful approaches to analysis, and so forth, which I can guide you through. Attention to details such as these will elevate your work above that of the standard candidate and get you top marks.
