About Kathryn
I have been tutoring students from across the sunshine coast for 6 years. I graduated from Burnside State High School in 2012 with an OP 1 and have since tutored students from many schools including Burnside State High School, Nambour State College, St Johns College, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Immanuel Lutheran College, Chancellor State College, Sienna Catholic College, Woombye State School, and Australian Christian College (home school students). I have also tutored university students from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
My qualifications include a Bachelor of Science majoring in mathematics, and a Graduate Certificate in Science also majoring in mathematics.
I really enjoy the challenge of helping students understand concepts and it has been exciting to see them progress. Some of the best results I have seen is seeing progression from nearly failing to B or A level in 1 semester!

Hi! My name is Kathryn and I have not long graduated from both the University of the Sunshine Coast and the University of New England with mathematics qualifications. I really enjoy tutoring students of all ages (primary, secondary, and university) and tailoring lessons to the outcomes students want and their learning styles.
My methods of tutoring vary depending on the student. Some students want to focus on assessment pieces in their session, others want to focus on current learning materials, and others want lessons on material they have not mastered from earlier years of schooling. Others want all 3! And I'm happy to work within any of these frameworks. I do however observe during each lesson what the student needs to work on and delve deeper into these topics/concepts. I will also provide homework if the student is willing to do a little extra work outside tutoring sessions.
My aim in everything is to help students understand concepts; not just mimic examples without understanding. I see much better results when students finally understand the 'why' of what they are doing!
