About Carol-Ann
In addition to teaching in the classroom, I was the Education Services Writer for The Miami Herald / el Nuevo Herald newspapers with a circulation in three Florida counties. Following that, I wrote a series of 39 stories focusing on character education, one for each week of the school year with a supporting Teacher's Guide for the series, published by many newspapers across the country. I went on to write for two more news outlets and continue to write for one of them. I have published two children's books and my poetry has been included in a couple of anthologies. It was also my great pleasure to work with a number of young people as well as adults while active in the Key Biscayne Music & Drama Club. I also greatly enjoyed my role teaching drama and art in the summer program at the Miami Museum of Science for several years.

I make every effort to help my students be comfortable and confident in person, on Zoom, or on Skype. A typical lesson plan will consist of an hour beginning with the invitation to the student to share a current or recent English assignment while at the same time assessing the student's level of competency in English. At that point, a plan is created with the student to focus on vocabulary, etymology, syntax, and comprehension, with verbal and written usage. I review these thoroughly with the student who is then instructed to complete exercises using the knowledge we have discussed. I am comfortable working with elementary, high school, college, and adult levels.
