About Vinay

I am a graduate student at UniMelb pursuing a Master's degree in Finance. I have an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from one of the best universities in India (BITS Pilani).

I have a keen interest in teaching and have been tutoring students for over 5 years now. Most of my tutoring experience has involved teaching American students online on (concealed information) an American tutoring platform. I have over 80+ positive reviews there and an approval rating of over 95%. In addition to this, I have mentored aspirants for Indian college entrance exams (JEE Mains and Advanced, BITSAT, EAMCET, etc.) particularly in the areas of calculus and algebra. I have also tutored fellow undergraduates in subjects of Mechanical Engineering and high school students in physics.

About the lesson

Although I have mostly taught high school and undergrad students, I have been told that I am a great teacher for younger students as well! I feel comfortable in both a problem-to-problem format of tutoring and a structured, long-term format of tutoring.
I believe in breaking every problem down into small conceptual elements and then dealing with each concept separately. I believe every student has a unique way of learning, and I strive to tailor my lessons and my approach to create an environment that is most conducive of curiosity and learning.
I do not believe in the "teach to test" approach. Instead, I believe that "teaching should not be compared to filling a bottle with water but rather to helping a flower grow in its own way. As any good teacher knows, the methods of instruction and the range of material covered are matters of small importance as compared with the success in arousing the natural curiosity of the students and stimulating their interest in exploring on their own."

Details

The rate for students of level 5 or lower is $15 per hour.
Students may cancel at any time with a 2 class notice. Any discount of lesson packs will not apply in case of cancellation and the student would be required to pay for every class taken until cancellation at the standard hourly rate.
May charge additional if the distance is too large.
