About Jake

I am a mechanical engineer and studied Maths, Physics and Art at A A level achieving the excellent result of A*A*A. These results allowed me to achieve one of my dreams of going to the University of Birmingham!
I really love the process of teaching and helping to build an understanding of the subjects that I enjoy. As someone who experienced the confusion and frustration that maths and physics caused when not taught in the right way for me, I'm very understanding and patient and I will be dedicated to trying to changing a students mindset.

My love of Maths and physics originates from how it gives language to the crazy and incredible applications of engineering. I realised that I had a good way of explaining things when I used to help people in class when they seemed to understand me even better than our teachers sometimes!

About the lesson

As an engineer, I am a problem solver by nature. I teach students a toolbox of techniques to allow them to tackle problems with ease. I use constant examples and useful analogies to make understanding simple.
I also enjoy being able to teach things from scratch to a student by taking them ahead of their class and broaden their understanding deeply into a subject to make them more appealing for university applications.
