My teaching philosophy and methodology is based on a very general principle – to inspire my students. I have always believed that the most important aspect of my teaching is to demonstrate to the students why this course is a fascinating subject to learn, study and pursue – either later in your university career, or later in life. I also believe in being very accessible to my students. In many cases, inspiring students happens just prior to, or just after the formal part of the actual teaching. I also believe that as a teacher you should care for your students –and you should assume that the students are enrolled in your course because they want to learn and want to be inspired. It is my job to fulfill their needs as best possible.
My teaching philosophy is also rooted in involving the students during class. Ask them questions – get them involved and make them feel that they are, in a way, part of their own learning process.
Lastly, I also believe in strong course and class preparation. The more you understand your class material, the more relaxed and more effective your teaching will be. Be prepared for every class.
