About Amelia
My top priority as a tutor is to reassure students that learning is a superpower everyone possesses. I recently started tutoring and have done mainly administrative tasks such as grading and program organizing, but I am understanding and patient with the students in the class I tutor for. I want students to feel proud of making progress however small and enjoy the learning process, despite it’s challenges. Rather than focus on teaching them the answer, I strive to introduce reliable systems and methods that can be used universally to effectively address any learning hurdle or difficult problem.

I am incredibly friendly and approachable. I teach using a pick-three method and mapping methods. Identifying 3 objectives and pulling apart topics into digestible building blocks, both set me apart from others and best guide my students. I am a visual learner and, therefore employ illustrations and diagrams to map out problems and solutions. Also, I am organized with course materials and concise in speech. I currently tutor at the nearby elementary school for a fourth-grade class, but open to tutoring other grades and classes. I do know a bit of Spanish and have received a certificate of bilingual proficiency in Ohio. Furthermore, I am a cellist and have completed the 12-book Suzuki series, and have experience guiding students from my senior project shadowing my school district's middle school orchestra director.
