About Katie
Hello! I’m a dedicated and experienced math tutor who helps students build confidence and succeed in their skills. Whether your child is learning fractions for the first time or preparing for high school Algebra and the ACT, I tailor every lesson to fit their unique needs and learning style. My approach focuses on clear explanations, patient guidance, and real understanding—not just memorizing steps. I create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. With a strong background in tutoring elementary through high school math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, and ACT Math prep, I know how to break down tough concepts and keep students engaged. Lessons are structured, goal-oriented, and always adapted to meet each student where they are. Let’s make math less stressful—and even a little fun!

- Teaching method: I start with concept explanations. Throughout these explanations, I provide visual aids to assist in the learning process. After the explanations, I do socratic questioning which allows students to make their own connections. Then we do practice questions!
- Lesson plan: Warm-up, New Concept, Guided Practice, Independent Practice (with feedback), Wrap-up (recap, questions, goal setting)
- I am adaptable to all learning styles. I emphasize the importance for students to communicate and ask questions as needed and wanted! I also track progress and use positive reinforcement to build confidence.
- I can work with individuals in elementary all the way up til high school. Specifically: basic math, fractions, decimals, pre-algebra, algebra I, and algebra II. I can also help with ACT math prep, which focuses on focus strategies and timed practice!
