About Alisha

I have completed my first year in Biomedicine BSc (Hons) at university, and have been accepted to study Medicine MBChB in September.

I studied A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and have a passion for Science. I started tutoring during my A Levels and enjoyed working with students and helping them learn and overcome any difficulties they may have understanding the Sciences.

I not only have a strong academic background, but have practical experience working at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This was through the Young Visitors Programme where I was chosen to shadow consultants. During my work experience, I observed Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular surgery and Laparoscopic surgery.

About the lesson

I use a variety of teaching techniques which include physically drawing out scientific content/processes in order for easier visualisation and memorisation for the student. Once content is covered and understood, I like to complete exam style questions with a student so they can comprehend how to write specific answers to gain maximum amount of marks available. Typical length of a lesson would be one hour long. The first 40-45 minutes would be learning the content and the rest would be put toward exam questions. I have completed my A Levels and GCSEs and I would like to share some advice and revision skills whilst also teaching GCSE content to current GCSE students. My most preferable subject to teach are GCSE biology and maths, as I am used to tutoring these topics to my peers and other students.

I was looking for a tutor to help my daughter prepare for her 11 Plus exams, and finding Alisha ended my search. After just a few lessons, my daughter made noticeable progress in both Maths and English. Alisha is an exceptional tutor with strong subject knowledge and outstanding teaching skills. I highly recommend her—especially for Science subjects.

Alisha tutored GCSE foundation science and GCSE foundation maths to me last year because I was really struggling with my mock exams and I was failing. She was extremely helpful and patient and really focused on my weaknesses and helped me improve on them. On results day, not only did I pass both subjects, I achieved higher results than what I obtained from my mocks and what my school teachers expected. I highly recommended Alisha as a tutor as she can transform an under-achieving student to passing with high grades!

Amazing tutor! Alisha has been tutoring my 2 boys, who are 7 and 9. They both have different needs and she’s been able to adapt to meet their requirements. I’ve had their teachers comment on how their confidence has grown too! Highly recommend!
