About Mishaal

I’m a current undergraduate student on holiday, and am interested in helping GCSE Math students. I achieved top marks and grades in both A Level and GCSE Mathematics, so I am confident in my ability to help GCSE students. Math was my favorite subject in high school. I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand concepts, especially in math, where a small breakthrough can make a big difference in confidence. Having recently gone through GCSEs and A-Levels myself, I know how frustrating math can feel sometimes — but also how rewarding it is when things start to click. I want to support students who might be struggling or want to improve, by explaining things clearly and showing them that they can succeed in math. Teaching gives me the chance to share what I’ve learned and help others feel more confident in their own abilities.

About the lesson

Having recently completed my GCSEs and A-Levels, I understand the challenges students face when learning maths—whether it’s grasping tricky concepts, managing time in exams, or building confidence. Because I’ve been through it myself, I can relate to what students are going through and explain topics in a way that makes sense to them. My goal is to make maths feel more approachable by breaking down complex ideas and helping students find methods that work best for them.

I plan my lessons based on the student’s current ability, their school syllabus, and any specific areas they’re struggling with. I usually start with a quick recap or warm-up to reinforce previous knowledge, then move on to a focused topic for the session. I include explanations, guided examples, and then practice questions to help build confidence and understanding. If they have upcoming tests or homework, I’m happy to align the session with what they’re working on at school.

I specialise in secondary school and GCSE-level maths, and I have a strong understanding of both foundation and higher-tier content. I can help with algebra, geometry, number, statistics, problem-solving, and exam preparation, or any other GCSE content the student needs guidance with. As someone who achieved top grades in maths myself, I know how to approach different question styles and help students develop strong exam techniques.
