About Samantha
I am a first-year undergraduate student at Fordham University. I am in the Gabelli School of Business as a Marketing major, and I currently intend to double minor in the liberal arts school with Fashion Studies and Creative Writing. I have a great passion for writing whether it be analytical, research, or creative. I have written business essays, creative short stories and poems, research essays (both scientific and non-scientific), and analytical literature essays. My favorite writing is creative writing, but I also enjoy all other forms. I also have a passion for reading; in my free time I enjoy reading fiction and poetry. In classes, I have gained great experience in reading American and international literature, standardized testing writing, scientific research, theological/philosophical literature, and business essays. Additionally, I am proficient in annotating, close reading, and grammar skills. I am currently taking college classes that demand high-level writing and reading skills. In High School, I took both AP and Honors classes that required intensive writing and reading (for example, AP European History and Honors American Literature). Through these classes, I have acquired skills in all genres of reading and writing that I plan to share with students.

As a student, I greatly value the importance of one-on-one time to learn material better. I intend to bring this focus in my tutoring sessions by closely analyzing any piece of writing or reading that the student wants to share with me. For essays, I will review them holistically or with a specific intention (such as grammar, research questions, citations, or elimination of plot summary) that the student shares with me. I will even review an essay prior to meeting times so that we have plenty of time to discuss issues during the meeting. For reading help, I have experience in annotative, creative, and standardized test reading, so I will be able to guide the student through any troubles. I hope to create an environment where the student feels comfortable asking any question so that they can improve their English skills. I am able to tutor students in Middle School to High-School.
