About Alexis

My name is Alexis! I am a dedicated STEM educator who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential in mathematics and science. Currently, I am a senior at Angelo State University, pursuing a double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry, projected to graduate in May 2026. My challenging academic trajectory, along with amassing a 3.405 GPA, has equipped me with intimate understandings of advanced concepts, while the duality of this educational focus allows me uniquely to bridge the divide between abstract mathematical theory and concrete scientific applications.

About the lesson

With over six years of teaching experience, ranging from various settings, I have developed my ability to work with learners of all ages and skill levels. My background includes work as a professional tutor at Angelo State University for four years, where I help guide college students through challenging subjects like Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Chemistry. Additionally, 1.5 years were spent working at Mathnasium-a specialized learning center-where I honed my ability to build foundational number sense for K-8th-grade students. This is complemented by six years of private tutoring experience across the K-12 curricula, giving me a broad perspective on how students learn and grow from elementary school through university.

The foundation of my teaching philosophy is based on adaptability and patience. I strongly believe that not all students think alike; hence, I do not depend on one method to explain something. I show various techniques for the same concept, first coming at the problem from one angle, then from another, be it visually, conceptually, or practically, until it finally clicks. Whether you are a college student preparing for finals or a parent seeking support for a younger student, I am committed to providing the personalized instruction necessary to achieve academic mastery.
