About Amelia

Hi! I’m Amelia, a tutor with over three of experience in teaching maths from 11+ to A-level. I achieved 3 A*s at A-level in Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science and achieved 11 grade 9s at GCSE including Maths and Physics. I am now in my second year at Oxford University studying Economics and Philosophy (PPE).

Through completing my A-levels, I developed a love for mathematics which I hope to share! I have tutored many students in one-to-one and group settings which has helped me understand the best teaching methods for different levels.

For the 11+ exam (in particular the SET test), I have worked as a one-to-one tutor and at a dedicated tuition centre after having passed the exam myself and so I can offer particular insight from all perspectives for this exam. For GCSEs, I have tutored one-to-one and to a group, and have improved students working around grade 4-6 level to grades 7-9.

About the lesson

I am tutoring maths for students from 11+ to A-level. I believe in the Socratic teaching method- this is a more engaging method which involves working through specially selected problems together to learn new skills and improve your current ones which will help you learn much faster, retain new information for longer and give you the confidence to tackle new questions on your own!

My lessons are flexible both in terms of time and activities. Lessons can last from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on your schedule. For newer or younger students, we will work through the syllabus topic by topic in a structured manner, revisiting trickier topics throughout the year. For more confident students, we can work through grade 9/A* problems as well as going through commonly misunderstood topics or elements the student is weaker as.
