About Lois

I am an undergraduate maths student at the University of Bristol. I have achieved top grades in Maths, Further maths and Physics A levels so I am confident in my ability to teach you the skills to achieve in these subjects! I am passionate about mathematics, and will focus on deepening your understanding and strengthening your mathematical ability. I understand mathematics can be a stressful and difficult subject so I aim to create a comfortable environment during lessons where you feel able to ask any questions or express any difficulties. I am also interested in how to make maths education and teaching more effective, hence why I achieved an A* on a project qualification researching into mathematical education. I have spent hours researching into the best methods of teaching maths and how to make it more engaging. I will always strive to make my lessons not only helpful but a good experience.

About the lesson

I have achieved an A* in A level maths, an A in further maths and an A in physics, as well as a 9 in GCSE Maths and Physics. I have also achieved an A* in a project qualification researching into mathematics education. I teach all areas of maths from KS3 up to and including A Level (11-18 year olds). I offer 1 hour long lessons. I believe knowledge of context and theory is the key to making maths skills transferable between questions. My teaching will not just focus on the methods and formulas, but will give the learner a deeper understanding of mathematics, improving their mathematical ability and skills. Lessons will always be at the learner’s pace - I want to make sure the learner understands everything before moving on. I also understand that learning can be a stressful experience for some, so I will create a safe and comforting environment where learners feel they are able to ask any questions or express any difficulties. I have experience with tutoring maths at GCSE level for a year and am confident in my mathematical and teaching ability to be able to provide effective and helpful lessons for learners.
