About Emily
Hello! I am an undergraduate English student and college level tutor with a passion for writing. Writing is a powerful tool which can help you succeed in all areas of life. That being said, writing is also a way to express your own thoughts and truths, and can be extremely satisfying. My goal as a tutor is to help my students build a solid base of form, methodology, and the critical thinking skills which ultimately provide the foundation of any good paper, dissertation, or thesis. I want to work with my students, not against them, in this process - I operate under the basis that learning is a give-and-take: I learn from my students just as they learn from me, and a session is most productive when both parties are receptive to suggestions, questions, and concerns.

As a passionate writer, I endeavor to share my appreciation and enthusiasm with my students.
Every student thinks and learns in a unique way. By observing a student's learning process, I can identify what their individual needs are and how best to structure lessons to ensure they get the most out of every session. Whether it be improving grammar, structuring papers, crafting thesis statements, incorporating evidence, properly citing materials, or simply beginning the writing process, I strive to create a productive and enjoyable learning environment. Writing and communication skills are a vital part of integrating oneself into the academic and professional world. By teaching students a wholistic approach to writing, I endeavor to give them the skills they need not only to write an effective paper, but to thrive within the greater context of written communication outside of the classroom.
