About Katy

Hi I'm Katy and I specialise in tutoring english based subjects as well as literature, legal studies, psychology or even economics.

why me?
Not only did I study these subjects myself and land a 90+ ATAR but as a Melbourne Uni student I practice these writing skills at a higher undergraduate level every single day! I am punctual, organised and have adaptive abilities when it comes to communicating with various types of people.

Here's the thing. I have ended up in the course I always wanted, in my dream university, working towards my dream career of being a lawyer! But do not mistake my journey for an easy one, even the best students need a bit of guidance in the final years of their schooling. Not just for academic support but for the mental encouragement and motivation.

My goal is to motivate and inspire you, that even those who have a tough time at school or cannot quite wrap their head around the system can be a success story through careful and efficient learning techniques.

About the lesson

I attended a public school and was privileged enough to meet all types of students at all different points in their academic journey, everyone was going at their own pace and had separate goals. Being a straight A student I learnt and observed a lot about common mistakes students were making that ultimately prohibited their growth, things that school does not necessarily teach. That is why my tutoring lessons are more than just a content based info session, but more of a time where we revise over genuine day to day skills to make sure that not only are we studying right outside of school but we have embedded life long skills for inside the classroom, future uni lecture halls or at our career meetings!

My lessons are designed to first grow our study skills; meaning effective note taking skills, how to study for certain topics and what allows us to remember test content. (15 mins)
Then, depending on where the student is at with content knowledge we will revise over what has been taught in class and any questions that need to be answered or further detail that needs to be explained about topics. (25 mins)
The remainder of the lesson is where we activate our knowledge via practice questions or prompts to make sure we have understood the content, this may be in the form of short essay responses or breaking down a prompt or even timed writing.
