About Yusraa

I am a History undergraduate at the University of Oxford with extensive experience tutoring GCSE and A-level History. I have completed over 1,000 hours of both one-to-one and group tuition, including work with a professional tuition agency, which has trained me to uphold the highest academic and safeguarding standards.

At A-level, I studied History, Economics, and Chemistry, developing strong analytical and evaluative skills across both humanities and sciences. My favourite period of history is the Cold War, particularly its international relations, ideological conflicts, and historiographical debates.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is structured, student-centred, and exam-focused. I aim to build both subject knowledge and the analytical skills needed to succeed in GCSE and A-level History.

Lessons typically combine:

- Clear explanation of historical content, ensuring students understand key themes, debates, and context rather than memorising facts.

- Close work with exam questions and mark schemes, so students know exactly what examiners are looking for.
- Essay-focused teaching, including planning techniques, building strong arguments, using evidence effectively, and developing clear, analytical writing.
- Targeted feedback, where we break down essays line-by-line to improve structure, expression, and historical judgement.

I emphasise clarity of argument, precision in language, and critical engagement with historical interpretations—skills that are essential at A-level and beyond.

Lessons usually last 60 minutes, which allows enough time to cover content, practise exam skills, and give detailed feedback. Longer sessions can be arranged when working intensively on coursework or essay practice.

I use an iPad to create my own tailored resources and to deliver my lessons effectively. I also keep an individual file for each student, allowing me to track progress carefully and keep parents fully up to

I am currently an undergraduate studying History at the University of Oxford, where I regularly write and receive feedback on high-level historical essays. This gives me a strong understanding of:
- How to construct sophisticated historical arguments
- How to engage with historians’ interpretations
- What distinguishes top-band essays from average ones

I am particularly well-placed to help students aiming for top grades or preparing for the step up from GCSE to A-level.
