I teach music theory because I love helping others discover the "why" behind the music they play and hear. My approach is hands-on and tailored to each student—I believe everyone learns differently, and the best way to understand theory is to apply it creatively. We’ll analyze music you love, break down its structure, and even create your own compositions to bring the concepts to life.
Lessons usually run about 30 minutes to an hour, giving us time to dive into new ideas and explore them without feeling rushed. My background as a music major at the New Zealand School of Music and my experience as a pianist and composer mean I can draw from both practical and academic knowledge to make theory accessible and relatable.
I work with students from age 10 and up, whether you’re just starting out or preparing for ABRSM/Trinity exams. My goal is to make theory less intimidating and more enjoyable by showing how it connects to the music you love and want to create.
