About Katlego
Hi there! I am so excited to meet you! My name is Katlego.
As a Mechatronics Engineering student at the University of Cape Town and a competitive UCT track and field athlete, I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to balance a busy life with tough classes. I truly care about seeing you succeed, and because I live and breathe these subjects every day in the lab, I am here to hold space for you and guide you through them with absolute patience and care.
My approach to tutoring is deeply professional, warm, and structured to bring you peace of mind. I firmly believe that every single student has the capacity to excel—sometimes you just need the concepts explained with a little more heart and a lot less pressure. Together, we will gently strip away that intimidating academic jargon. Whether we are debugging a stubborn Java array, unlocking Python loops, or conquering a brutal maths module, I will be right there with you, breaking it down into calm, logical steps until it clicks.
When I am not in the lab or running on the track, you will usually find me finding my peace hiking around Cape Town, painting, or just relaxing and vibing. I bring that exact same grounded, joyful, and supportive energy to our lessons. You can expect a beautifully encouraging space where it is entirely safe to make mistakes, ask any question you want, and build your confidence at your own pace. Let's team up, debug your coursework together, and get you feeling happy and confident about your studies!

As a Mechatronics Engineering student at UCT, my approach to teaching is built on functional, real-world logic rather than abstract memorisation. What makes my methodology unique is that I treat learning maths, physics, and programming exactly like engineering a system: we break down massive, intimidating problems into small, manageable components.
Instead of just forcing you to memorise formulas or copy code blocks, I focus heavily on teaching the foundational "why" behind the logic. Once you grasp how a Python loop works under the hood or how a physics vector translates to physical movement, solving exam-level questions becomes second nature. I can teach in both English and Southern Sotho.
My lessons are specifically designed for two main groups of learners:
Forget long, dry lectures—our sessions are structured like a fast-paced coding sprint or engineering workshop:
The Bug Hunt (First 10 mins): We jump straight into your toughest lecture material or a broken piece of code and pinpoint exactly what’s tripping you up.
The Core Hack (20 mins): I strip away the academic jargon and explain the core theory using clean analogies, live visual sketching, or interactive code walkthroughs.
Live Testing (20 mins): You take the wheel. We attack tutorial problems and past exam questions together, building up your speed, debugging strategies, and exam confidence.
The Reboot (10 mins): We lock in the core takeaways and map out a quick, foolproof strategy for you to crush your upcoming assignments solo.
University Students (First-Year Track): Specifically tailored for UCT or local varsity students navigating foundational engineering, science, or humanities modules in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science (Python and Java). If you are feeling overwhelmed by the fast pace of university lectures, I specialise in getting you back up to speed.
High School Students (Grades 10–12): Ideal for Core Mathematics and Physical Sciences students aiming to boost their marks for university admission or those taking Advanced Programme (AP) courses who want an early introduction to engineering-level thinking.
