About John
Hi, I’m John—a UCLA graduate in Political Science and future law student with a deep love for writing, literature, and clear communication. I’ve spent years refining the skills that make strong essays possible: structuring arguments, close reading, and writing with purpose. What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students build confidence in their own ideas and find satisfaction in expressing themselves—whether that’s through a powerful thesis or a well-written story. As someone who’s worked with students of all ages and abilities, I know that no two learners are alike. I bring patience, structure, and genuine enthusiasm to every session, and I take pride in helping students not just do well, but actually enjoy the process.

As a Political Science graduate from UCLA and an incoming law student, I bring a strong foundation in analytical writing, argumentation, and close reading—skills at the heart of both English and academic success. My tutoring approach is all about helping students find their voice while learning how to structure clear, compelling arguments, whether for essays, exams, or creative writing assignments. Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and are tailored to each student’s needs—some may want help organising their thoughts, others may need guidance understanding complex texts or improving grammar and clarity. I’ve worked with students at the GCSE and A-Level stages, as well as younger learners who want to strengthen their reading and writing before reaching exam years. Whether you're aiming to improve your essay grades, build confidence in class, or prepare for future studies, I aim to make writing feel less intimidating and more like a tool you can actually enjoy using.
