About Hannah
As a lifelong learner currently studying neuropharmacology at UCLA, I understand the challenges students face inside and outside of the classroom. I've been enrolled in both private and public schools, and I understand the pressures put on students in both situations. I've had tutors before, and I understand that a tutor is a short term solution for students -- as a tutor, it is my goal to see that the student becomes a developed and self sufficient learner.

Teaching Method and Techniques:
My teaching approach is centered on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment tailored to each student's needs using the following steps below:
1. Diagnostic Assessment
I assess each student’s current understanding and identify
specific areas where they need improvement -- to customize
the lessons to the individual.
2. Active Learning
Based on the subject, this includes problem-solving exercises,
interactive discussions, and strategies for understanding the
material
3. Formative Feedback:
I provide ongoing feedback to help students track their
progress. This feedback is constructive and aimed at
motivating students to achieve their best.
4. Encouraging Self-Directed Learning:
I strive to develop students’ independent study skills by
teaching them how to set goals, plan their study sessions,
and use effective resources. This empowers them to become
more self-sufficient learners.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson plan is structured yet flexible to adapt to the student’s needs. Here’s an outline of how I organize a session:
Introduction (5-10 minutes): We start with a brief review of previous material and a discussion of the day’s objectives. This sets the context and helps students connect new concepts with what they already know.
Direct Instruction (15-20 minutes): I introduce new concepts through explanations, demonstrations, or multimedia presentations. This is followed by guided practice where students apply the concepts with my support.
Independent Practice (15-20 minutes): Students work on exercises or problems independently to solidify their understanding. I circulate to provide individual assistance as needed.
Review and Reflection (10-15 minutes): We review the key points of the lesson, address any questions, and discuss what went well and what could be improved. This also includes planning for the next lesson based on current progress.
Homework/Assignments (5 minutes): I assign practice problems or projects to reinforce the day’s lesson and prepare for future topics.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my commitment to personalized learning and my ability to foster a positive and engaging learning environment. I place a strong emphasis on:
Building Relationships: I focus on building a rapport with students to create a comfortable atmosphere where they feel confident to ask questions and make mistakes.
Holistic Support: Beyond academic content, I offer guidance on study strategies, time management, and exam preparation, providing a well-rounded approach to learning.
Adaptability: I am highly flexible and responsive to students' needs, adjusting my teaching methods and lesson plans based on their feedback and progress.
Passion for Subject Matter: My enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious, helping to inspire and motivate students to develop a genuine interest and appreciation for the material.
Target Audience:
My lessons are designed for students at various educational levels, from elementary school to high school/ college level courses. I am comfortable tutoring in a range of subjects, including [specific subjects you specialize in, e.g., mathematics, science, English]. Whether students are preparing for standardized tests, tackling challenging coursework, or seeking to improve their overall understanding, I tailor my approach to suit their specific educational goals and requirements.
