About Andrew

I was born in Scotland and was awarded Dux for the highest academic achievement in my high school year, and then went on to earn a first-class integrated Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, covering diverse areas like physical, inorganic, medicinal, and organic chemistry at honours level. I spent my master's year at the University of Chicago, where I gained my first teaching experience, sparking a passion for helping students grow in confidence and understanding. Currently completing my Organic Chemistry PhD at UCL, I’ve balanced the challenges of research with a rewarding focus on teaching. My roles include leading tutorials, supervising lab classes, and assessing students’ ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences. Working with UCL’s diverse student body has honed my adaptability and commitment to creating engaging and supportive learning environments. I believe in nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving, and a genuine appreciation for STEM subjects, tailoring my approach to each student’s unique needs. I pride myself on being organised, reliable, and dedicated to helping students achieve their goals. Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring diverse cultures through reading, language learning and travel. Inspired by my father, a teacher, I strive to bring empathy and clear communication to every lesson I deliver.
