About Maria

My name's Maria! I am a UCL MPharm graduate and qualified pharmacist who is going back to education this year to study medicine. Having always really enjoyed biology and chemistry and the human aspect of a career in healthcare, medicine gives me the opportunity to further my knowledge of the physiology and anatomy of the human body and to apply it in my daily practice through diagnosing and treating patients. In my free times I enjoy simple things like reading a good book and going for long runs in the city.

I have taken several exams and experienced the "exam stress" in many different ways. I believe I have learned from my mistakes and know, now, how to face exam season in a healthy and effective way. I understand that taking exams or even tests can be daunting and I would love to help my students reach their full potential and acing their exams.

I have been a tutor for 4 years now and have helped many students reach their goals. I am truly passionate about teaching and 100% dedicated to my students. I am flexible and very chill but ensure that works get done and pupils make the most of the lesson!

About the lesson

I believe in working smart. Having quality free time is as important in one’s developement as their academic obligations and that is why efficiency is important when learning/ studying. Rather than spending infinite hours looking at books and not getting anything from it, it is key to understand what works for us and how to be as efficient as possible. And that is why I work hard to engage each student in whichever topic we’re covering and to make sure they are taking advantage of each session to the maximum.

During the sessions, the student will determine what we cover. Each session will be tailored around the student, their needs and their preferred way of learning. I will make these sessions as enjoyable and engaging as possible with a variety of methods for explaining concepts, such as diagrams, graphs, other websites etc. I plan on continuously checking on the student’s progress by setting weekly tasks such as quizzes and exam questions.

I have also developed time management and note taking skills that have changed my studying experience and I am very excited to share these with my students.
