About Azaria

Hey there! I’m currently a third-year Honors Health Sciences student at UOttawa, and I’m back in the Bethesda MD, area for the summer. I know firsthand that subjects like Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, as well as Science in general can feel like a tough mountain to climb especially when you’re balancing school, sports, and a social life.

As a UCC graduate and now on the pre-med track, I’ve spent years in the trenches of elite private school and university science. I’ve maintained a competitive GPA not by being a genius, but by learning how to study smarter, not harder. My goal is to pass these skills onto you so you can spend less time stressing and more time actually understanding the material.

Professionalism:
I’m definitely not your average stuffy tutor. Thanks to years of experience working in summer camps, I know how to keep things high-energy and engaging. If a concept isn't clicking, we’ll pivot and find a new way to look at it until it does.

Teaching Methodology & Techniques:
My approach is rooted in the same high-efficiency strategies used in medical school preparation: Active Recall and Conceptual Scaffolding. Instead of passive reading, I challenge students to retrieve information through targeted questioning. I focus on "the why" before "the how" because I believe that once a student understands the underlying biological or chemical mechanism, the facts/details naturally fall into place. I also integrate spaced repetition techniques to ensure long-term retention for exams.

A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes):
The Retro-Review (10 mins): A quick mini quiz on the previous session’s material to strengthen past knowledge.

The Deep Dive (30 mins): Breaking down the day’s complex topic (e.g., Cellular Respiration) into digestible, illustrated steps.

The Active Sprint (15 mins): The student takes the lead, explaining the concept back to me or solving high-level application problems.

The Roadmap (5 mins): Setting specific, actionable goals and study checkpoints for the week ahead.

What Sets Me Apart
I offer a unique insider perspective. Having graduated from Upper Canada College, I understand the pressure of elite private education and IB/AP curricula. Combining that with my current Honors Health Sciences rigor and years of summer camp leadership, I bring a high-energy, relatable coaching style. I don’t simply just teach Science, I teach the discipline and organizational habits required to maintain a competitive GPA pre-medical tracks.

Who These Lessons Are For:

High School Students: Specifically those in AP Biology, AP or IB Science looking to boost their GPA for university applications.

K-12 Enrichment: Younger students who want to get ahead in Science through engaging, interactive learning.
