About Dayna
I have a huge passion for education—but it didn't start that way! I really struggled with several of my high-school courses, so I empathize with students who need extra help and I will never judge you for having difficulty with something...asking for help is the hardest thing about school! Once I worked up the nerve to ask for help, I gained an appreciation for the process of learning. It can be very challenging and daunting at times, but it is also incredibly rewarding in the end. I'm so excited to meet you and share my passion for education with you—I hope to inspire you into feeling the same way!
I have tutored students for 5 years in a wide range of subjects; biology, physics, chemistry, math (including pre-calculus and calculus), and English. Although I specialize in sciences and maths, I have had personal success in an even larger selection of post-secondary courses—English, anthropology, philosophy, Indigenous studies, Greek/Latin, and French, to name a few—so I am positive that my own academic experience will prepare me for any challenge you might be facing!

We will work together to figure out exactly where you have trouble and develop a plan for your success! We'll discuss what teaching methods do and don't work for you, alternative learning resources, how to overcome writing procrastination, and effective reading/writing techniques. Then, of course, we will do plenty of practice together until you feel confident in your skills.
I primarily tutor middle- and high-school students but am willing to tutor post-secondary arts courses at the first- or second-year level.
