About Garrett
I enjoy tutoring calculus because it is the first subject where many students begin to see the practical value of math. I've learned that students often dislike a math because they feel it's useless in a real-world setting. Calculus has clear, real-world application and I feel it is important for my student to be shown that.
If you have a future in STEM, consider calculus to be the first step of many. Having a thorough understanding of the principal ideas of calculus helped me in almost every STEM course I took while studying aerospace engineering at The University of Florida.

Through my studies in aerodynamics and astrodynamics, it has become very clear to me the power of math and what it enables you to describe. Look at math as a language you are using to talk out a problem rather than as a list of steps you have to follow to get an answer.
My tutor sessions are conceptual and focused on core ideas. Its not enough to know how to make a computation, you must also know why you are doing it.
This approach is especially important in calc 1 because differentiation and integration are introduced here. In the courses to come, many topics will build on these two ideas, so its imperative that they are understood deeply.
