About Valentina

Hello! My name is Valentina, though most people just call me Val. I'm a fluent speaker of both English and Spanish and have been my whole life. My mom's Colombian, so Spanish is all we speak at home, and English is all I speak at school! I love to read, write, bike, watch movies, and go out with friends. I've had wonderful teachers to help me along the way, so I definitely know what I'm doing and would love to help in any way I can! About the lesson

I primarily focus on vocabulary, language retention, and speaking/writing. It's important for people learning a new language to enjoy the work, so I love working with people on whatever specific goals they have for themselves! I'm very flexible depending on each student's individual need, but I do have set lessons if that is more your style. I've worked with a ton of younger children/teens (ages 4-16), but occasionally, I work with someone older, which is great as well! I speak most of my lessons fully in Spanish, as it is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the language and teach your brain to make the switch. Trust me, you start to catch on a lot faster that way! If, for any reason, however, you don't feel comfortable doing that immediately, then we can start off with explanations and regular lessons!

If you are looking for a regulated lesson plan week by week, here's a short example starting one;

Week 1: Introduction to Spanish & Basic Greetings
Week 2: Numbers, Days, and Basic Time Expressions
Week 3: Family and Relationships
Week 4: Basic Verbs & Making Simple Sentences
Week 5: Describing People and Things
Week 6: Asking Questions and Giving Directions
Week 7: Food and Dining Vocabulary

And so on and so forth!

If, however, you need a more specially designed lesson, let's say for school or such, that totally works too! At the end of the day, I just want to help you as best I can.
