About Kathy
Hello! My name is Kathy Guo and I'm a rising college freshman planning to double major in chemistry/CS at Cornell University! Through my high school career, I have tutored multiple people in math, physics, and chemistry. I also designed multiple activities and tests, allowing students to experience concepts firsthand. I would often ask students at study halls whether they needed help with anything and provided assistance to any problems they had. Afterwards, they would always seem to understand more, as if that spark had clicked. Seeing the sudden realization of understanding and happiness that follows is what drives me to become a tutor!

My approach doesn't follow a typical lesson plan; it follows the student's needs. I ask the student what they want to learn and what they are having trouble understanding. Then, I break it apart from the very beginning, building a strong conceptual understanding of the topic while stopping every now and then to ask the student if they have any questions. My goal is to ensure that along every step of the way, the student is able to follow.
Throughout high school, I've sought help from many people so I know what it's like to experience confusion and frustration. I've also wanted to help other students in return and have created specific activities for students to follow. My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students struggling with algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, chemistry, and physics.
