About Gil

I can help you!! All my students' test scores and grades and SAT scores improved!

I have over ten years of teaching and tutoring experience with extensive standardized test prep, chemistry and math tutoring experience.

My tutoring experience is with students of all different abilities, from both public and private prep schools, from middle school through college. All my students had their test scores and grades improve substantially - to quote one Columbia Prep parent "Before Gil, C-. After Gil, B+. We were thrilled!" And to quote a Dalton Prep parent "He helped in a different area: self confidence. My son felt he had not only memorized, but mastered the topic. He received an unexpected A- in Honors Chemistry: certainly a success! Gil was invaluable, both for his knowledge of the material and approachable personality."

I graduated from Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. At Columbia I taught engineering classes and was awarded the Jacob Millman Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

But these credentials are the background - what is vital and more important than having a thorough knowledge of the subject matter is that I can communicate this knowledge effectively, clearly and patiently, with humor and an understanding of where each individual student is having difficulty.

About the lesson

Every student is different, and I work towards not only helping them with the material, but to see where they are having study or test taking issues and help them overcome these issues. I encourage students to ask questions and foster a supportive learning atmosphere, where they can proceed at a pace they feel comfortable with. I incorporate real-world examples to make the subject more interesting, relevant and approachable.
