About Gordon

- What kind of experience do you have? I have worked for the Royal College of Music Sparks programme for 3 years teaching trombone and assisting in musicianship and theory lessons. For the same period I have worked in the London Borough of Newham as a tutor for Every Child a Musician, I have taught trombone, trumpet and theory to individuals, small groups and whole classes. Privately I have taught or currently teach trombone, trumpet, cornet, euphonium and tenor horn. I have also been a part of Outreach workshops at the RCM working with children of all ages and abilities. - Where and with whom did you train? I attended Chetham's School of Music for sixth form before studying at the Royal College of Music for my Bachelor of Music degree. Whilst at the College my teachers included Byron Fulcher, Lindsay Shilling, Graham Lee and Richard Edwards. Since graduating I have continued to receive lessons from Denis Wick.

About the lesson

I am a Trombonist in the RAF and brass teacher based in Lincoln. Over the past 12 years I have taught for two music services, at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and have had private pupils throughout. - Which subject(s) do you teach? Trombone - Tenor and Bass Euphonium Tenor Horn Trumpet / Cornet Although I'm a Trombonist I have a lot of experience of teaching all brass listed above. - Tell me about your qualifications. Bachelor of Music Honours degree from the Royal College of Music in Trombone performance. Whilst at school I gained a performance Diploma from the ABRSM on Trombone. - How much do you charge? Individual tuition; 60 minutes - £40 45 minutes - £30 30 minutes - £20 Chamber Music; 60 minutes - £50 Travel costs may apply depending on location, please contact me to check. - Where do you teach? I am able to teach in person, at either your house or mine, or online. - When are you available? I am very flexible with lesson times so please contact me to arrange a time. - Which ages and levels do you teach? I teach pupils of any age and standard. Although I have specialised in the Trombone the skills involved are transferable to all brass instruments. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? Although I leave the decision whether to take graded exams or not entirely up to the pupil, I have put all those who have taken practical or theory exams through the ABRSM exam syllabus.
