About Iain

Throughout his extensive career as a low brass musician, Iain has had the privilege of performing and recording alongside some of Australia’s most respected artists and entertainers, including John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John, Mark Vincent, James Morrison, Emma Pask, Don Rader, Rhonda Burchmore, Jacki Cooper, David Helfgott, David Campbell and Carl Risely, among many others.

His professional experience spans a diverse range of musical settings, from live performances and studio recording sessions to television productions and large-scale entertainment events. Iain has performed on live television, contributed to television advertising recordings, and worked on a variety of professional musical theatre productions.

His musical theatre credits include Dr Zhivago, Mary Poppins, Love Never Dies, An Officer and a Gentleman, The Lion King and Dream Lover. He has also performed at the iconic Sydney Opera House as part of the Dr Who Spectacular.

These experiences have provided Iain with a broad understanding of professional musicianship, performance standards and the demands placed on musicians and their instruments. His extensive background as a performer, combined with his experience as a tutor and conductor, gives him a unique perspective when working with students and helping them develop their musical abilities.

About the lesson

Iain has a fantastic ability to bring out the best in his students by combining engaging, enjoyable music with strong technical foundations. His approach makes learning an instrument fun and rewarding, encouraging students to develop a genuine enthusiasm for music while motivating them to practise regularly.

By selecting music that is both enjoyable and appropriate for each student’s interests and ability, Iain creates a positive learning environment where students look forward to their lessons and feel inspired to improve. At the same time, he places a strong emphasis on developing correct technique, ensuring that students build the essential skills, confidence and musical understanding needed for long-term success.

His ability to balance enjoyment with discipline allows students to progress naturally, develop good practice habits and achieve results they can be proud of.
