About Valentín
My name is Valentín, I am a Ph.D. student in Language and Literature, a Translator and I love languages.
Since I was little I have been exposed to bilingual contexts and I have learned to learn languages.
When I was 8 years old I moved to Brazil without knowing how to speak a word of Portuguese and being so young, I was able to learn it quickly.
In my university career I have worked with texts in Italian, French, German and English, and translated texts from Latin and ancient Greek. I also learned how to translate and how to teach.
As an adult, I moved to Italy to do my Ph.D. and again I am faced with a bilingual context in which to continue learning what it takes to be able to communicate in a country with a foreign language.
In addition to my Ph.D. I do translations from English to Spanish and in my spare time I translate poetry from the languages I know into my favorite language: Spanish.

With more than 5 years of experience in language teaching, I will guide you through the basic principles of learning a language.
For me it is essential to learn to understand a language, because empty or memorized knowledge does not last over time.
We will work:
-Comparing languages to understand grammatical and syntactic concepts;
-Building lexicon from etymological explanations;
-And analyzing discursive structures to understand how people speak in real life, and not in school manuals.
If you know English, Portuguese, Italian or Latin, we will be able to delve into the common points that unite the languages and learn by understanding the history of our languages.
