About Jacquelyn
Hi there! I’m a certified English Language Arts and ESL teacher based in New York. I’ve worked with students of all backgrounds to help them become clear, confident writers. I studied Comparative Literature at Cornell University and later earned my Master of Arts in Teaching. My own love of reading and writing is what drew me to education—and I bring that same passion into every session. I use the Hochman Method (also called "The Writing Revolution") to teach students how to organize their thoughts, build strong sentences and paragraphs, and express themselves with purpose. Whether you're looking to improve school writing, grammar, or academic essays, I’m here to help. My sessions are supportive, structured, and always tailored to your needs. Let's build your writing skills together!

My approach is rooted in the Hochman Method, a structured, research-based framework that helps students become strong, independent writers—step by step.
My approach is focused on the building blocks of great writing: sentence structure, transitions, clarity, and organization. Lessons are scaffolded so that students gain confidence at every level, from writing strong sentences to crafting full essays.
A typical lesson might include:
- A short review of a specific skill
- Guided practice with feedback in real time
- Application to something the student is working on
- Strategies students can take with them to use independently
I personalize every session to meet the student’s needs, learning style, and goals—whether that’s catching up, getting ahead, or building long-term confidence. I also offer support in between sessions with shared documents or light feedback when needed.
