About Ibrahim

I am a third-year Mathematics student at the University of Manchester, currently on track to achieve a first-class degree. My strongest areas include vector calculus, ordinary differential equations and fluid mechanics, as well as mathematical modelling and programming in Python. This background gives me a solid foundation for supporting students with both school mathematics and the transition to university-level work.

I want to teach because I know how much difference a clear explanation and a supportive tutor can make. Many students are capable but held back by gaps in understanding or past experiences where maths felt confusing or stressful. Tutoring allows me to help them rebuild their understanding step by step, improve their exam performance and, most importantly, feel more confident in their own abilities.

I am patient and approachable, but also organised and focused on results. In lessons I work with students to identify where they are struggling, set realistic but ambitious targets, and practise exam-style questions until they feel comfortable tackling them on their own. I never judge students for not knowing something; my aim is to create a calm, encouraging environment where questions are always welcome and progress is visible from week to week.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology combines clear explanation with patient, step-by-step practice. At the start of each lesson, I use short diagnostic questions to identify gaps and set a concrete goal for the session. Then we work through carefully chosen examples together, highlighting common exam traps and efficient techniques. After that, the student tries similar problems on their own while I guide, correct and show them how to improve working and presentation. I always end with a brief recap and a plan for what to focus on next, so progress is visible from week to week.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, with the option of 90-minute sessions for students preparing for exams or covering more advanced material. Longer lessons allow time to introduce a new idea, practise exam-style questions, and review mistakes without rushing. I can offer regular weekly lessons or more intensive support in the build-up to key assessments.

While I am new to formal tutoring, I have regularly helped classmates and friends understand challenging topics and prepare for their assessments. In these sessions I focus on explaining ideas clearly, checking understanding with questions, and working through exam-style problems step by step.

My lessons are aimed at GCSE and A-Level students, as well as first-year university students studying mathematics or related subjects. I adjust explanations and pace to suit each student’s level and goals, whether they are aiming for top grades, improving from a lower starting point, or trying to rebuild confidence in maths.
