I teach students to understand “why the method works” as opposed to just memorising it. By memorising key methods to a maths question, one can find themselves stuck in harder questions later down the line. A lot of the times mathematics requires rigorous understanding of prior topics and concepts which can’t be achieved by just learning the methods to answering questions. I ensure that students are not only prepared for any approaching exams but also for future STEM topics that require a rigorous understanding of some mathematical concepts.
