About Charlie
I know to make sound historical arguments.I achieved the second highest distinction in the First Preliminary Examination at Oxford (class 280). At all levels I can help students to add clarity to their writing style and hone essay structures for success in examinations. The key to this will be to teach students to prioritise the evidence they deploy in making an argument. I can also focus revision on more sophisticated historical themes that will impress examiners and allow students to achieve the highest possible grades.
I specialise in late Medieval and Early Modern European history. I completed my undergraduate thesis on colonial Pennsylvania and I have a good knowledge of American History c.1700-1865. For more advanced students, I also offer a specially tailored course on Western historiography and political thought.
