About Emma
As a current student, my experience with the school examination system and the university application process is fresh. My classes will be uniquely tailored towards helping you achieve your academic goals (whether that be a certain grade in GCSEs or A levels, or application to a particular university). I have tutored several students before, and received glowing endorsements from my tutees.

Typically, history lessons will be heavily based around essay technique. Lessons often consist of written tasks that we will then go over together in detail (e.g. looking at writing techniques for introduction and conclusions, embedding evidence and use of historiography if your course requires it). Of course, the topics chosen by each individual student and school vary greatly: I will brush up on the period that you wish to look over before the lesson and tailor my class to the individual's ability and exam requirements. If the student wishes to gear the session towards a particular upcoming set of exams, I will tailor the lessons tightly to their revision plan. I can aid them in producing and looking over revision materials, and will mark practice papers.
If a student is looking to apply for history at oxbridge, I will tailor my sessions towards working on interview technique and admissions exams. I can also provide help with crafting and reviewing a personal statement (please note that this does not mean I am willing to write others personal statements).
For GCSE English literature students, sessions will largely focus on writing technique and textual analysis. This will generally consist of analysis of an unseen text. The student will dissect the text and be asked to provide detailed analysis of individual sentences as well as providing overarching textual themes and messages.
I am based in South East London and am willing to travel for lessons in London (within reason). Generally, however, I prefer to do lessons by zoom. This way, I can continue to provide sessions if the student wishes to carry on when my university term commences. I generally offer one hour lessons, but can also do half and hour if that works better.
In terms of relevant qualifications, I received all 9s and A* at GCSE level (including in English literature and history). Moreover I received 44/45 in the International Baccalaureate (an A level equivalent) wherein I studied History higher level and English literature standard level.
I have tutored various students in the past, particularly in the year out that I took between school and university. One of those students was studying towards her GCSE English. The other two were younger, in year 7 and 8 respectively, and I tutored them in a variety of subjects including sciences, maths, English and history.
