About Tanish
I consider myself fortunate to have been taught by some excellent educators throughout my life, and as such I understand the difference that the right tutor can make in a student’s life. Hi! My name is Tanish. I am a medical student who loves meaningful social interaction and geeking out about the science of life. I strive to find opportunities to teach, as well as to learn from others as exchanging knowledge gives me immense satisfaction and motivates me as an educator. I have first-hand experience of rigorous curriculums like the IBDP as well as competitive exams like the UCAT. My own academic success has been a result of reflecting upon what works and what doesn’t; I intend to put this experience into practice to help you achieve your dream grades by ensuring that you not only remember, but understand what you learn. IGCSE: Maths - A* (97%), Biology - A* (98%), Chemistry - A* (98%) (All grades equivalent to a GCSE 9) IBDP: 44/45; 7s in Higher Level Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics:AI UCAT: 3060 (95th percentile)

I focus on the student, not on the subject, because I believe that anyone is capable of learning anything if they are taught the right way. While I strongly abide by the individual syllabus requirements and outlines, I dislike rigid and formulaic pedagogical methods. For this reason, I first and foremost build a rapport with the student and try to discern specific areas where they may feel underconfident or unclear about a subject. As I progress through the material, I like to take “pit stops” where I make sure that the student has truly understood the previous content before moving further. At the end of a topic, I ask students how their perception of it has changed. I also like to include quizzes and “games” in order to mark progress without pressurising the student.
