About Udit

I am currently a Ph.D student at UIUC studying theoretical physics, while also teaching undergraduate physics courses as a graduate teaching assistant. I currently hold a B.S. in Physics, Mathematics and Nanoscience from SUNY Albany.

I have experience tutoring students in subjects ranging from 8th grade algebra, college level calculus, introductory physics (mechanics and electromagnetism), engineering thermodynamics all the way up to differential equations and graduate level quantum mechanics.

I have been tutoring for 7 years, since I first learnt these subjects myself. Having recently gone through the process of learning how to learn these subjects, I empathize with how difficult it can be.

About the lesson

First off, *I understand the struggle of learning these notoriously difficult subjects.*
My goal is to help you build the quantitative skills and conceptual understanding to gain the confidence to complete your homework, while leaving you with a more complete understanding and appreciation of the subject.

In addition to theoretical physics, math and physics education has truly become my second passion. I employ a question/examples-based technique to make sure my students have a thorough and complete understanding of the concepts before looking at a single equation. These questions lead the student to a preliminary model in their head, at which point I ask them to "manipulate" this model until it becomes apparent to them which equations to use and how to use them. I often make use of handy tricks and memorization schemes which can help greatly with taking exams.

I have found this technique has helped as my students immensely, and eventually they are able to reason through problems themselves. This kind of problem solving is useful in the "real world" as well; you will be able to solve almost any problem with this technique.
