About Andre

Hi there! My name is Andre, I live in Manchester and I am currently taking a Masters in Mathematics at the University of Manchester (Year 3).

It was not until during my GCSEs that my love for maths was cemented. Once I realised how much I enjoyed it, I applied to do Maths, Physics and Computer Science for my A-Levels, whilst self-teaching myself Further Maths as a fourth subject. My enthusiasm and drive for these subjects led me to achieve four A*s in them. In this time, I also started teaching friends and family members for free! I found it really gratifying and it gave me time to refine my teaching technique. My University life has only reaffirmed my fondness for maths, and I feel as if this is why it's so fulfilling to teach it.

The biggest thing to remember is that everyone who learns maths will come across hurdles and will get stuck, myself included. However, maths is a skill - and just like any other skill - all you need is to be set on the right path and practice to get better at it. Therefore, I see it as my mission to make sure that you tap into your potential and that you gain a deeper understanding of this subject.

As your tutor, I am very understanding and patient, making sure that you don't feel pressured or overwhelmed. I am extremely punctual and organised, and can promise a personalised lesson plan for each student, making sure you get the most out of it.

About the lesson

First and foremost, it will be my priority to make sure that the lessons I deliver will give you exactly what you want to get out of them, and I will adapt my general approach depending on your preferences.

I tutor GCSE and ALevel mathematics online and my lessons are typically 60mins or 90mins. I have been tutoring online lessons since 2020 for an agency, where I have been rated 4.9/5 stars from over 30 reviews. I have completed over 200 lessons and I am constantly learning new maths concepts due to my University experience.

My goal in each session is to make sure that learning online is as similar as possible to learning in real life. I own a graphics tablet and recommend that each of my students to get one so that we can work together on problems. We normally tackle a topic together by learning a bit of theory, and then doing some worked examples. Towards the end, we look at challenge questions and exam practice. As the lesson progresses, I will let you take the lead in answering questions so that you can become more confident in your independent ability. Although, if stuck, I'll be happy to touch over parts of the topic again or just give you a push towards the right direction. As for homework, I have plenty of question banks to solidify your knowledge. These will be marked and handed back in the lesson after.

The fact that I have recently done my GCSEs/Alevels myself, I am very well versed in the specifications and know the differences between the exam boards. I will be able to give advice on how to prepare for the exams and which topics are the most important. This way you will be sure that you're prepared to ace them!
