About Alex

Hi, I'm Alex, over my extensive 14-year career, I have dedicated myself to not only teaching English but also empowering students to gain confidence and effectively communicate their ideas. I am currently the EAL coordinator at a secondary school in London where I have developed and implemented a strategic and successful EAL programme. I am also a SEND Teacher of Maths and English and a Sixth-Form Tutor. My EAL teaching journey has honed a lesson planning approach that blends experience with innovation. What began as a trial-and-error process has evolved into a robust EAL curriculum designed to advance proficiency and meticulously track progress. This programme ensures that students experience noticeable improvement, often achieving one level progression (i.e. A1 to A2) within a 250-day intensive and engaging learning cycle. Through targeted lessons in communication, vocabulary, and grammar, students are prepared to excel in their language skills and apply them confidently in real-world contexts. I bring a wealth of experience across all age groups and proficiency levels, from nursery school to adult education. My expertise spans online platforms, primary and secondary education, and college-level instruction. Whether working with young learners or adult professionals, I approach each challenge with a commitment to providing a valuable and impactful learning experience. My analytical and methodical mindset allows me to pinpoint and address problematic areas, focusing on the essential fundamentals needed for advancement. About the lesson

My teaching methodology combines a calm, supportive approach with firm and intensive instruction, ensuring you stay on track to success while enjoying the learning process. I'm passionate about advancing students' proficiency levels and fostering a healthy, engaging learning environment. Upon First Meeting: Initially, we'll assess your current English proficiency level in reading, writing, listening and speaking (as designated by the CEFR; A1 – C2) and identify your personal goals for learning English. Based on this assessment, I'll design a personalised lesson plan that ensures a clear, linear progression. Structured Learning Path: Your lessons will be meticulously planned to focus on three key areas: communication, vocabulary, and grammar within your current level or English proficiency. This structured approach is designed to guarantee noticeable progress within or under 250 days, following a 30-lesson programme with 10 lessons dedicated to each category. Continuous Assessment and Feedback: After each lesson, I provide detailed feedback and homework to reinforce what you've learned. We’ll also conduct regular assessments of those completed lessons to track your progress and adjust the lessons as needed to ensure continuous improvement and necessary revision. Tailored EAL Lessons: Whether your goal is to improve basic EAL skills, achieve higher scores in TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English Qualifications, improve English conversation skills or Business English as well as any other prospects, I am prepared to meet your needs with professionalism and dedication. Each lesson will be tailored to your needs and my expertise will fix any problematic areas you may have so that the next level of proficiency is guaranteed.
