About Alex
Hi! I'm Alex, I'm from London and I'm a current History student at the University of Manchester. I'm looking to get started in tutoring and while I don't have much experience I do have A grade A levels in both History and Spanish and very much enjoy both subjects.
History is my main subject and I would be able to tutor at all levels below degree level, particularly in AQA A level and Edexcel GCSE as these are the exam boards I did my exams with and so am most familiar with their structures and demands.
Though I no longer study Spanish, I did continue it on the side of my degree in my first year and would be more than confident to tutor it up until GCSE level.
In my experience, the most effective way to retain content and pass exams is simple practice of exam questions and subsequent follow ups on content or structures that students found to be difficult in their practice. As such my main form of tutoring would focus around the exams themselves and what they require of students. However I also believe in the importance of enjoying a subject to aid learning and would include some less gruelling activities such as games or quizzes to make sure students have fun!
