About Anthony
I graduated with my Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of South Florida (USF) in 2020. As a graduate student I spent 8 semesters teaching cell biology lab, a junior level course at USF. My dissertation work was on epigenetic regulation of cancer progression. I went on to do postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin from Fall 2020 – Fall 2024. The lab then re-located to Emory University where I worked as a scientific research assistant from Spring 2025-Spring 2026.
While working in labs I found that the most fulfilling part of my days were teaching others about techniques and concepts that can advance their projects. I believe that teaching is the ultimate way to expand our positive impact in the world. I am excited to guide new generations of students to the knowledge that will allow them to gain success and transform society.

Throughout my time as a teaching assistant and while instructing researchers in the lab I have found that the most important aspect of effective teaching is flexibility. This demand is also what I find most fulfilling about teaching. All students are different; their backgrounds, goals, and skill levels all vary significantly but any student can improve under correct instruction. I also feel that it is important to allow students to make mistakes without immediately correcting them, instead I try to guide them through to the correct answer with discussion.
When planning what material to include in lectures I ensure that all essential information is covered multiple times with varied phrasing. I believe that it is important to stop frequently when lecturing and prompt students for responses to keep them engaged. I enjoy having discussions with students who are motivated to apply concepts outside of the classroom and I believe that fluid conversation at a student-set pace can really help to solidify concepts into my lectures.
