About Vanessa

I graduated college in 2009 with a bachelor's in music education and having student taught at one of the most prestigious music programs in the state.

My background is vast, spanning bands, choirs, small groups and recording studios. I’ve taught as early as 3rd graders and as old as seniors. I’ve performed and directed many groups and I have humbly had the opportunity to study with some of the best symphony instrumentalists in the state. And I’ve participated in early music learning with my own kids.

I have a passion for music, and the skills and discipline it offers everyone. I’m not here looking for the best talent or most advanced students. I’m here looking to teach the willing students and those embarking on new adventures - for those building brand new skills. I’m here for you!

About the lesson

I have my bachelors in k-12 music education and have taught privately and at elementary and middle school levels for more than 20 years. I specialize in saxophone and clarinet as well as other wind and brass instruments. Lessons are typically 30 minutes and include technique and music reading, as well as learning by ear. I’ve sung in and directed many choirs, and would also be happy to teach sight singing and basic theory.

I’ve taught hundreds of beginners of all ages and it would be my pleasure to teach you, and to set you up on the right foot for success! The best time to learn is anytime, and the best time to learn properly - is right at the beginning!
