About Dennis

1. The first and most obvious fact is I want to help my students achieve good grades in their exams.
2. Beyond that, I want to help my students become less dependent on me and/or anyone else when it comes to their studies.
3. Students will not just learn how to answer questions but will learn the purpose and application of every concept taught in every subject.
4. I will also relish the opportunity to help my students to fulfill their aspirations, even from an early age.
5. Students only need about 3-9 months with me to be fully independent, depending on their attitude and aptitude.
6. I do not rush my students.
7. I have had parents and students requesting my lessons again when possible.
8. I will focus on the fundamentals before giving students more challenging questions to tackle.
9. I do not expect perfection from my students, just their willingness to give their best and boldly ask questions. All I ask is a positive attitude.

About the lesson

1. I do not spoon-feed answers.
2. While I teach students to tackle the questions, I focus on helping them to understand the concepts and real-world application.
3. My goal is for my students to be independent within 3-9 months. That means I hope for them to be able to do well academically, with or without my assistance.
4. Many of my students have told me that they hated English or Math. Right now, they still ask me for more homework and their parents are asking how I helped them to be excited about studying and exams.
5. I don't just prepare my students for exams, but for life too.

6. Length of each lesson: 1.5 hours for P1-P5, 2 hours for P6 (per subject)
7. I use an approach called the Aspirations approach. It is built upon other existing methods and teaching philosophies that have been used in international and local schools to produce the best academic results while also inspiring students to be driven and self-motivated.
8. I have a Master's degree in Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and I have been teaching English and Math for 7 years.
9. I focus primarily on Primary 1 to Secondary 2 students.
10. I had As for my Math, Science, and English for my PSLE and P6 Prelims
