About Toby

Hi, I’m a friendly, approachable, and experienced tutor who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential at GCSE level. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit individual needs - whether that means breaking down tricky concepts, building exam technique, or simply boosting confidence.

About the lesson

Your techniques and teaching methodology: I focus on building strong foundational understanding and confidence through a tailored, student-centred approach. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style, then adapt my lessons accordingly. For Maths, I emphasise step-by-step problem solving and breaking down complex topics into manageable parts. For French, I focus on structuring answers, analysing texts, and developing clear arguments. Regular feedback and mock assessments help track progress and build exam technique. • Typical length of a lesson: Lessons are typically 60 minutes, which allows enough time for explanation, practice, and review. • Your qualifications/experience as a tutor: I hold a First Class degree from LSE • Who the lessons are for (level, age, etc.): My lessons are designed for GCSE students, typically aged 14–16, across all exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.). I support both foundation and higher tier students, whether they’re aiming for a pass or targeting top grades (7–9).
