About Neil

I always enjoyed D&T as a student in the 1990s, studying two different D&T disciplines at GCSE before moving on to A-Level. I studied Integrated Engineering with Automotive Studies at university, and then went on to do a PGCE in Secondary Design and Technology as the thing I enjoyed most was sharing the knowledge that I have been fortunate enough to have gained.

I have worked in a number of secondary schools both mainstream and special education, and I have taught across the entire range of subjects at KS3. I have been subject lead for both Graphic Products and Product Design, and my students have achieved excellent results, often raising their grades above target.

I have industrial experience working for a major car company at their factory in the north-west of England, and outside of lessons I can be found in the garage working on car restoration or carrying out any manner of restoration and renovation projects around the house and garden, all of which make use of my D&T knowledge, which I am keen to pass on to you!

About the lesson

If you are looking for help with Design and Technology, you've come to the right place. I've been teaching for over 20 years, and I've always been able to get the best out of my students by being there and supporting them, personalising their learning to suit exactly how they work best.

You'll learn how to draw, how to present designs, how to develop a product from initial idea through to prototype for production, which is the whole point of the NEA. You'll learn about manufacturing processes and materials, and why they are linked so closely. Real world examples, practical skills, and making learning fun are the key elements of my lessons.

A really useful first session, Akaran was prepared with the exam board name and important information to help me prepare resources for him. He was honest with what he knew and didn't know, and this will be really useful to getting him targeted help without wasting his time covering topics he already knows.
