I explain everything on a handy whiteboard and make sure they understand it first and then take down the main notes instead of narrating them pages of notes and wasting their time and money.
Also, the key to better grades is to revisit the topics that we’ve done before. So, I regularly ask them questions on what I’ve taught them before to keep refreshing their memory. There are NO bunches of worksheets to do for HW. Instead, just revise previously learnt topics time to time.
On top if that, I regularly point out the links between topics so the whole subject is like a mind map in the students heads instead of separate blocks of unrelated topics.
