About Zongyuan Kevin

My name is Zongyuan Kevin, and I am currently studying Pharmacy at Trinity College Dublin. I have a strong academic foundation in science, having studied Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at A-Level, following earlier study at IGCSE level.

Because I completed my A-Levels relatively recently, I understand first-hand the challenges students face when preparing for important examinations. I am familiar with the pressure of revision, managing demanding scientific content and learning how to turn subject knowledge into strong exam performance. This allows me to relate well to students while maintaining a focused and professional approach.

I am particularly interested in Biology and Chemistry, and studying Pharmacy has allowed me to continue developing my scientific knowledge at university level. I enjoy seeing how topics taught at school connect with areas such as medicines, human biology, chemistry and healthcare, and I hope to make these subjects feel more meaningful and approachable for students.

I take reliability and preparation seriously. I aim to be punctual, organized and well prepared for each session, while creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions or admitting when they do not understand something. I believe that students make the best progress when they feel supported but are also encouraged to think independently and challenge themselves.

My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident in their own ability. I want students to leave lessons feeling that difficult topics are more manageable and that they have a clearer idea of how to continue improving on their own.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is structured, interactive and tailored to the individual student. I focus on helping students understand the logic behind a topic rather than relying on memorisation alone. Difficult concepts are broken down into clear, manageable steps, and I use targeted questions throughout the lesson to check understanding and identify any gaps.

I place particular emphasis on applying knowledge to exam questions. Students will learn how to interpret command words, recognise what a question is testing, structure answers effectively and avoid common mistakes. For calculation-based or problem-solving topics, I work through the method clearly before encouraging the student to complete similar questions independently.

Each lesson is planned around the student’s needs. This might involve learning a new topic, revising difficult material, reviewing homework, practising past-paper questions or preparing for an upcoming assessment. I prefer to focus on specific areas that will make the greatest difference to the student’s progress rather than simply following a textbook page by page.

A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for more intensive revision or exam preparation. Lessons are designed to be active rather than lecture-based, so students are encouraged to ask questions, explain their reasoning and attempt problems themselves.

My lessons are suitable for Junior Cert, Leaving Cert, GCSE and A-Level students, particularly in Biology and Chemistry. I can support students who need help building a stronger foundation, as well as those aiming to refine their exam technique and achieve higher grades.

Having studied science through the IGCSE and A-Level systems and now continuing with science-based study at Trinity College Dublin, I am familiar with both the academic content and the demands of formal examinations.
